What we're about Carpe Noctem is the perfect hangout and base for solo travellers and young, sociable people who want to be part of an interactive and lively hostel experience, as well as maximising the city in the day time and seizing the night when the sightseeing has ended. Our hostel was previously an apartment space, and is set up so you feel like you're arriving at a mates' place and going out with 22 new friends each night! Do you want to be introduced to other guests so you can instantly make friends for your travels...if not life? One of our favourite parts of the day is family dinner time, where we all enjoy a delicious, home-cooked meal together, family style. Do you love to party? After dinner, we crack open some beers and play drinking games before heading out all together. We have organised events every night with our awesome sister hostels! We're talking everything from boat parties, bus parties, karaoke nights and pub crawls... You get the picture! What we can offer you (aside from the party) We don't have a reception desk, we sit down and have a tea or coffee on the couch with you instead! Our friendly staff will offer you a warm welcome and detailed introduction to the city and it's wonderful sightseeing, bars, clubs and restaurants. True and authentic, local and underground recommendations to make sure you fall in love with Budapest as much as we did. We don't believe in hidden charges for things either. There's free padlock hire, free lockers and lock hire, free WiFi and a spare computer for you to use. You can help yourself and borrow a towel, hairdryer, or iron for free too! Our rooms are all 8-bed dorms, and we make them as comfortable as possible with orthopedic mattresses, air-conditioning and free bed linen (who charges for that anyway?!). We have a fully equipped kitchen for you to use, and you can help yourself to tea and coffee at any time of the day. We won't allow you to starve while travelling, so we also put out free eggs and bread and some other basics to help yourself to! Location We're centrally located within a few minute walk to Andrassy utca and Nyugati station. We're just off the main road which has pubs, cafés, bars, restaurants, 24-hour shops and clubs on it so there is no need to stray far for whatever you need. Despite this, we're located on a quiet cobbled side street so you don't have to listen to the noise from traffic. We're within walking distance to all of the main attractions on the Pest side, including St Istvan's Basilica, Freedom Square, House of Terror, Szechenyi thermal baths and the famous Parliament building. For lazy travelers, public transport is in our immediate location; the blue metro (for direct metros from Nepliget coach station) and yellow metro are only a few streets away. There is also a tram line just around the corner that runs along the main road of the city. Email us and we'll let you know the best way to get here depending on how you're getting here! Things worth noting We're located on the top floor, and due to the status of the building we have no lift...so if you are lazy or a smoker, you may be better off going to a ground floor hostel or one with a lift! The hostel is thus not wheelchair accessible. We are ideally suited to solo travelers, or groups of two or three who wish to meet people so if you just want an isolated stay with just a bed in a room, groups who don't wish to mingle or couples who want alone time only, we are probably not for you. As we are youth party hostel we have a guideline age limit of 36. We reserve the right to refuse bookings to anyone outside of the criterion. Please contact us with any inquiries before booking/cancelling if you're a little unsure why so we can discuss the difference between rules and guidelines. Please provide us with a correct arrival time so that we can ensure that someone is there to greet you!
